THE DEGREE OF FLEXIBILITY;
This gives people the joy of operation than in an environment with strict rules. The freedom requires to be within the restriction of the job description.
RESPONSIBILITY
- Being responsible to others such that I being flexible does not affect their freedom.
- Being responsible to yourself such that your leader don’t dictate you to you what to do; the plan is yours.
- As a leader you tell people what to do and leave them to think how to do the job.
SETTING STANDARDS
- Set high standards for your employees so that they could have new skills to deliver high quality.
- Always encourage your juniors to deliver high standards.
- Ensure that you allow competence in your organization.
- Ordinary things are those that you have achieved while standard things are those that you have not achieved.
- Raise standards at the personal level when they have reached their maximum best standards you maintain it.
REWARDS
Is a major factor in organizational climate, they should be distributed fairly so that as to maintain a positive environment in the organization. This creates a positive organizational climate.
CLARITY OF VISSION AND MISSION
People need to know where they are heading to. This makes everybody to be on the same page hence knowing what to do next. It helps to eliminate negative grape vine and thus creating a positive organization climate. The vision and mission should be communicated frequently.
TEAM WORK AND COMMITMENT TO GROUP
- The spirit of team work reduces suspicions between each member of the organization.
- It brings positive interaction in the organization.
COMPETITIONS
- It makes people to develop new skills so as one can compete fairly.
- It makes works to invent new ways of performing a task so that they can get to the top therefor creating counter-production.
GRAPE VINE
- Grape vine is both positive and negative rumor in an organization that is passed in form of an informal way of communication. It makes people express themselves and therefor a positive interaction is enhanced.
- Leaders also use grape vine to test ideas in an organization. When a leader brings in a new idea in the form of a rumor, people will talk of it and the leader will see if the idea can be implemented or not depending on the reactions of the members. This does not require all members to participate for the leader to make a decision. The test should not take long since people may change their views and the information will be distorted. The leader should follow the grape vine so as to get the required feedback. This could be done by receiving formal communication from various departments through the various leaders of the department.
- Leaders should not use the grape vine to make decisions because it can contain distorted information. Grape vine only contains part of the truth the full truth should have the facts needed.
- Social media also affects the grape vine in that the transmission of grape vine can be through Facebook. It is recommended to communicate the grape vine in writings because it may require future reference.
